Master in Clinical Practice and Psychotherapy

The Master in Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy, co-directed by Dr. José Luis Marín and Begoña Aznárez, is the most comprehensive and extensive training in the Psychotherapy Training catalog. A pioneering program that combines over 40 years of clinical tradition with the most current advances in psychological intervention, designed for psychology and medical professionals seeking a solid, recognized, and truly integral specialization in clinical psychotherapy.

Where other programs specialize in one direction, this master's is built on a different premise: the patient who comes to therapy didn't choose which box to fit into. They bring a history, a body, a bond, a life stage, and sometimes several intertwined conditions. To accompany them rigorously, one needs to master the full spectrum:

  • From trauma to personality disorders.
  • From relationship difficulties to psychosomatic pathology.
  • From adult to child and adolescent populations.

That's what this program delivers: nine Expert courses articulated in a coherent itinerary that covers practically all contemporary clinical psychotherapy.

Throughout the master's, you will develop a deep understanding of contemporary clinical psychology, from its theoretical foundations to its practical application in the most diverse therapeutic contexts. You will master psychotherapeutic techniques with the strongest clinical evidence for the treatment of a wide spectrum of psychological disorders:

  • Trauma
  • Personality Disorders
  • Psychosomatic Problems
  • Relationship Difficulties
  • Child and Adolescent Pathologies

You will acquire advanced competencies in assessment and psychodiagnosis, learning to manage the most up-to-date tools to make precise diagnoses that guide effective interventions. You will specialize in cutting-edge techniques such as EMDR, brief psychotherapy, psychosomatic medicine, and integrative approaches with solid empirical support.

Program Structure

The program structure combines a common mandatory foundation with a level of optionality not found in other master's programs in the sector. The four mandatory courses —the same ones that form the backbone of the Master in Brief Psychotherapy— build the essential clinical framework:

  • Expert in Brief Psychotherapy as an integrative therapeutic model informed by trauma and attachment.
  • Expert in Psychopathology and Psychiatry as an essential diagnostic foundation.
  • Expert in Clinical Practice and Trauma Intervention with EMDR as the most evidence-based tool for working with trauma.
  • Expert in Psychological Assessment and Psychodiagnosis as a key component for rigorously evaluating, formulating cases, and planning treatments.

Building on this foundation, you choose five optional courses from seven available options, allowing for an extraordinary level of personalization. You can orient your profile towards:

  • Childhood and adolescence with the corresponding Expert course.
  • Integrating work with the body and physical illness with the Expert in Psychosomatic Medicine and Health Psychology.
  • Incorporating the relational dimension with the Expert in Brief Couple Psychotherapy.
  • Specializing in major symptomatic areas with the Expert in Eating Disorders or the Expert in Personality Disorders.
  • Deepening your technical level in trauma with the Expert in Advanced Training in Trauma Intervention with EMDR.
  • Expanding your repertoire with the Expert in Integration of Techniques in Psychotherapy, which integrates five contemporary models —Systemic Emotional Psychotherapy, ACT, Attachment Theory, Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy, and Psychodrama— taught by five specialist instructors.

Each professional, in practice, builds their own master's.

Program Outcomes

The result is a truly comprehensive clinical profile:

  • Capable of precise assessment.
  • Rigorously formulating cases.
  • Differentially diagnosing.
  • Intervening from a coherent model.
  • Specializing in the clinical areas that each professional decides to prioritize.

Training designed for professionals who do not want to limit themselves to "knowing a little about everything" or remain confined to a single narrow specialty, but rather to master the bulk of the contemporary clinical landscape with the depth of someone who intends to practice for decades.

Modality

The modality is completely online, with total flexibility to complete the courses sequentially or interspersed according to your professional pace. Each completed Expert course provides its corresponding accredited diploma, and upon finishing all nine, you will receive the Master's Diploma in Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy —98 ECTS, 2,450 teaching hours, one of the most extensive and rigorous qualifications in the sector—. You will have two full years of access to all master classes, live video conferences for doubt resolution with the academic directors, and specialized documentation specifically prepared for the program.

If you want to build a long-term clinical career and prefer to train comprehensively with the depth and breadth that real practice demands, this is the master's program.
